1 CALL TO ORDER - First Selectman Anthony DaRos called the meeting to order at 4:18PM.
2 REQUEST TO WAIVE BRANFORD ORDINANCE
Our Town Engineer has requested that we waive the requirement of advertising and bidding for land clearing at Tabor Drive, as allowed under Chapter 75 Article II, subsection 75-3 of the Branford Code: “Waiver of Requirement”.
The Code Reads: “The requirement of advertising and bidding may be waived by a unanimous vote of the Board of Selectmen; that such waiver is in the best interests of the Town.”
Ms. Plaziak has received a proposal from MORIN LOGGING, INC for $2200 per acre for clearing approximately 7 to 10 acres of land at the Tabor Drive site north of the land fill to proceed with environmental and geotechnical testing associated with the development of the site and its challenges for land creating as they have cleared the sewer easement and another section of the site for the Solid Waste Manager in the past.
Please consider approving this request and issue a Purchase Order in the amount not to exceed $22,000 for this work. While on site, the sewer easement will be cleared as well as a cost of $2 per running foot at a total cost of $3500.
Selectman Walsh MOVED to approve the waiver of the bidding process; Selectman Opie SECONDED. Discussion – Plaziak reported that Manny Furtado’s budget will cover the $3500, and the Board of Finance approved the appropriation for the $22,000 from the Tabor Drive budget. Unanimously carried.
3 ADJOURNMENT – Selectman Opie MOVED to ADJOURN at 4:20, Selectman Walsh Seconded. Unanimously carried.
