MINUTES OF SELECTMEN’S MEETING
July 19, 2006 –approved by the BOS 8/2/06
Senior Center – 6:00 p.m.
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. Present at the meeting were First Selectwoman Cheryl P. Morris, Second Selectman Richard Sullivan, and Third Selectman John Opie. Also present were Peg Hall, Solid Waste Manager; Pat Andriole, Director Branford Counseling Center and Shelley Marcus, Town Counsel.
Motion made by Selectman Sullivan to approve a request from the Branford Counseling Center for use of the Town Green on September 24, 2006 to hold the Annual Family Day Celebration from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Seconded by Selectman Opie. Vote unanimous.
Motion made by Selectman Opie to approve a request from the Branford Woman’s Club for use of the Town Green on May 20, 2007 to hold a Craft Fair from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Seconded by Selectman Sullivan. Vote unanimous.
Motion made by Selectman Opie to approve a request from the United Way of Branford for use of the Town Green on August 12, 2006 (rain date August 13, 2006) to hold a tag sale from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Seconded by Selectman Sullivan. Vote unanimous.
Motion made by Selectman Sullivan to add an item to the agenda from the Solid Waste Manager. Selectman Opie amended the motion to add this as item 4a. Seconded by Selectman Sullivan. Vote unanimous.
Peg Hall addressed the Board to explain the request to reject all non-conforming bids, waive the re-bidding process and award the purchase of the roll-offs to Wastequip Manufacturing Co.
Motion made by Selectman Sullivan to approve the recommendation by the Solid Waste Management Commission to reject all non-conforming bids, waive the re-bidding process and award the purchase of the roll-offs be awarded to Wastequip Manufacturing Co., dba Confab. Price not to exceed $19, 575 for all three containers. Seconded by First Selectwoman Morris. Vote unanimous.
Reappointments:
Board of Finance – Lorraine Young and Jeffrey Vailette terms to expire July 30, 2009. Motion made by First Selectwoman Morris to approve the reappointments. Seconded by Selectman Opie. Vote unanimous.
Motion made by Selectman Sullivan to enter into executive session at 6:16 p.m. to discuss pending tax appeals. Seconded by Selectman Opie. Vote unanimous.
Present in executive session were First Selectwoman Cheryl P. Morris, Second Selectman Richard Sullivan, and Third Selectman John Opie. Also present was Shelley Marcus, Town Attorney.
Return to regular meeting at 6:44 p.m. For the record no votes were taken while in executive session.

24 Summer Island Point – Jenkins v. Town of Branford
16 Summer Island Point – Bralove v. Town of Branford
40 Summer Island Road – Hibbard v. Town of Branford
35 Castle Rock – Suatoni v. Town of Branford
1-5 Fenway Road – Cox v. Town of Branford
38 Summer Island Road – Patrie v. Town of Branford
23 Sunrise Cove Camp – Potter v. Town of Branford
35 Thimble Farms Road – Wies v. Town of Branford
20 and 27 Summer Island Point – Palm Family Limited Partnership v. Town of Branford
14 Dudley Avenue – Fishbein v. Town of Branford
Prudden Island – Myers v. Town of Branford
Seconded by Selectman Opie. Vote unanimous.
Motion made by Selectman Sullivan to adjourn the meeting at 6:47 p.m. Seconded by Selectman Opie. Vote unanimous.
