MINUTES OF SELECTMEN’S MEETING

June 21, 2006 – approved by the BOS 7/5/06

Senior Center – 6:00 p.m.

 

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m.  Present at the meeting were First Selectwoman Cheryl P. Morris, Second Selectman Richard Sullivan, and Third Selectman John Opie.  Also present were Peg Hall, Solid Waste Manager; William Davis, Chairman, Shellfish Commission; and Shelley Marcus, Town Attorney.
 
Motion made by First Selectwoman Morris to approve the minutes of the June 7, 2006 Board of Selectmen’s meeting.  Seconded by Selectman Sullivan.  Vote unanimous.

 
Motion made by First Selectwoman Morris to approve a shellfish lease agreement between the town and Knapp for bed 504 and Smith for bed 547.  Seconded by Selectman Sullivan.  Vote unanimous.

 

Peg Hall addressed the Board to discuss a recommendation by the Solid Waste Management Commission to approve the bid submitted by Rubino Brothers, Inc. for the recycling of scrap metal.  Shelley Marcus also addressed Peg and the Board concerning the bids received.

 

Motion made by Selectman Sullivan to approve a recommendation by the Solid Waste Management Commission to approve a bid to recycle scrap metal.  Seconded by Selectman Opie.  Vote unanimous.
 
Motion made by Selectman Opie to remove item #4 - To consider and, if appropriate, approve a recommendation by the Solid Waste Management Commission to approve a bid to purchase 3 roll-off containers, contingent upon the transfer of funds, in progress from the agenda.  Seconded by First Selectwoman Morris.  Vote unanimous.
 

Reappointments:
Regional Water Authority Representative Policy Board - Douglas Marsh term to expire June 30, 2009.  Motion made by Selectman Opie to approve the reappointment.  Seconded by Selectman Sullivan.  Vote unanimous.
 

Motion made by Selectman Opie to approve the reappointment of Leno Torelli as Dockmaster for the 2006 boating season.  Seconded by Selectman Sullivan.  Vote unanimous.
 
First Selectwoman Morris mentioned a letter from Paula Harrington concerning truck traffic issues along Northford Road.  First Selectwoman Morris stated that this item would be referred to the Police Commission – traffic committee for their consideration. 
 
Motion made by Selectman Sullivan to adjourn the meeting at approximately 6:39 p.m.  Seconded by Selectman Opie.  Vote unanimous.
