The Rules & Ordinances Committee met on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Canoe Brook Center, 11 Cherry Hill Road, Branford, CT. The meeting came to order at 7:04 PM. Present were Representatives Lavorato, Docknevich, Walker, Black and Thayer. Representatives DeFord and Giardiello were absent. Also present were Selectmen Sullivan and Opie.
The following items were heard:
1. To consider a request from the WPCA Superintendent for the following transfer:
From: 4303-433.33-33 Sludge Disposal $(33,394)
To: 4303-433.42-07 Natural Gas $ 30,000
4303-433.33-11 Pump Out Services $ 1,500
4303-433-10-94 Education Incentive $ 775
4303-433.13-00 Longevity $ 119
4303-433.58-02 Uniforms and Clothes $ 1,000
TOTAL $ 33,394
After a presentation by WPCA Superintendent Manny Furtado, explaining the transfer to reconcile the 2006-2007 budget, the transfer was approved unanimously.
2. To consider, and if appropriate, approve a new ordinance that would offer incentives to the residents that install alternative fuel sources in their homes. The amendments to the ordinance prevent tax exemptions permitted under the ordinance from “sunsetting,” now that the enabling state statutes have been renewed. (pdf of the amended Sections 220-6 and 220-7 is attached.)
The measure was approved by a unanimous vote.
Motion by Rep. Black to adjourn was approved at 7:35.
Respectfully submitted,
Scott Thayer
