The Rules & Ordinances Committee met on Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at Canoe Brook Center,
11 Cherry Hill Road, Branford, CT
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM.
Roll call
Present: Scott Thayer (Chair), Dorothy Docknevich, Peter Black, James Walker, and Ron DeFord.
Absent: Anthony Giardiello, Nick Lavorato
Open Issues
1. To hear a presentation on the Sewer Use Fee, and, if appropriate, make a recommendation to the RTM.
Town Engineer Janice Plaziak and Water Treatment Plant Superintendent Manny Furtado gave a presentation on the Sewer Use Fee. The Fee must be in place by the deadline of July 1, 2007. Rep. DeFord moved that the Rules and Ordinances Committee make a recommendation to the RTM that the Town should develop the Sewer Use Fee by using the Equivalent Dwelling Unit (EDU) method. Second by Rep. Docknevich. Motion was passed 5-0.
2. To consider, and if appropriate, approve a new ordinance for: “Constructing or Maintaining Rainwater, Ground Water or Surface Water Discharge upon any public way.”
Motion to rerefer passed 5-0.
3. To consider, and if appropriate, approve a change to the town litter ordinance.
Motion to table passed 5-0.
