January 3, 2006
Minutes
 
The meeting was called to order by the Moderator Rep.Bruno , at 8:03p.m. The Moderator led the Body in The Pledge of Allegiance.
 
1. Roll Call.
Members present: Rep. Abels, Rep. Avitable, Rep. Black, Rep. J. Bruno, M. Bruno, Rep. Chapman, Rep. Coppola, Rep.Docknevich, Rep. Doyle, Rep. DeFord, Rep. Flanigan, Rep. Fowler, Rep. Giardiello, Rep. Greenalch, Rep. Infantino, Rep. Kiskaddon, Rep. Lavorato, Rep. Maynard, Rep.Mauriello, Rep. Nardella, Rep. O'Donnell, Rep. Prete, Rep. Reed, Rep. Reiners, Rep. Schwanfelder, Rep. Smith, Rep. Thayer, Rep. Twohill, Rep. Walker. Also present First Selectwoman Morris, 2nd Selectman Sullivan, 3rd Selectman Opie, Town Clerk Kelley, Town Atty Marcus
.
2. Approval of the minutes of previous meeting (no approval this is a special meeting to be approved next regular meeting.
 
3. Reception of correspondence from First Selectwoman Morris. The Moderator read a letter from First Selectwoman Morris expressing her support for increasing the Veteran's exemption from $4,000 to $10,000 as per state statue.(see attachment) .
To consider and if appropriate, approve a resolution recommending that the RTM increase the General Fund Budget from $79,377,249 to $79,591,249 (see attachment) this was sent to the Ways & Means Committee.
 
4. To consider and if appropriate, recommend to the Board 'of Finance that the local option tax credit increase for Veterans from $4,000 to $10,000. Motion by Rep. Lavorato 2nd by Rep. Smith to rerefer this item Motion passed.
 
5. To consider and if appropriate, approve the contract between the Town of Branford and the Branford Administrators Organization. Motion by Rep. Reed 2nd by Rep. Smith to reject contract, Motion by Rep. Black for a 10 minute recess 2nd by Rep. DeFord Motion passed. RTM meeting reconvened at 8:19pm. The Moderator read a letter from Frank Carrano Chairmen of Board of Education asking the RTM to approve contract ( see attachment) The Contract was rejected by a vote of 21-7
 
6. To consider and if appropriate, approve the contract between the Town of Branford and the Branford, Education Association. This was sent to the Education Committee
.

7. Motion to adjourn. Motion by Rep. Black 2nd by Rep. Smith to adjourn Motion passed, Meeting adjourned at 9: 17pm
