The regular meeting of the RTM Education Committee was called to order on Tuesday October 6, 2009, at 7:35 pm at the Canoe Brook Senior Center by Chair Maggie Bruno.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Roll call - present: Maggie Bruno, Chair, Maryann Amore, Josh Brooks, Richard Greenalch, and Frank Twohill
Absent: John Cinque, Troy Rondinone
To consider, and if appropriate, approve the following transfer requested by the Director of East Shore Region Adult and Continuing Education:
From: 207-4810-481.10-79 Salaried Non-Certified-A.E. ( 7,600)
To: 207-4810-481.33-27 Purch Svc Prof Tech-A.E. 2,300
207-4810-481.34.00 Bank Service-A.E. 3,800
207-4810-481.61-01 Instructional Supplies-A.E. 1,500
TOTAL 7,600
Director of East Shore Region Adult and Continuing Education Paul Dzialo presented the following explanation for the request: Because of increased enrollment, additional services and supplies were needed for the program. This transfer is for last year’s budget and is a self-funded account. It will close out last year’s budget for Adult Education.
Representative Greenalch made a motion, seconded by Representative Brooks, to approve the transfer. The vote was unanimous to approve 4-0.
Discussion was held concerning the formation of a bi-partisan group to discuss the BOE budget process. It was decided by the Committee to wait until after the November 3 election in order to see who would comprise the Committee at that point. At that time, the matter would be taken up again at the first Education Committee meeting.
New business: Representative Brooks made a motion, seconded by Representative Amore, to cancel the next scheduled Education Committee meeting of November 3rd, as it will be election night. The vote was unanimous to cancel the meeting.
Motion to adjourn was made by Representative Bruno, seconded by Representative Amore.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 pm.
