To consider, and if appropriate, approve the following transfer:
A request from the Director of the Branford Summer Studies program for the following transfer (FY08-09):

  From:   211-4830-483.10-79      Non-Certified Salaries             ( 1,400)

  To:      211-4830-483.10-78      Certified Salaries                         3,000

Jim Murray was out of town and unable to attend the meeting, but supplied this explanation for the transfer:

The transfer request was necessary due to the large increase in student participation. The self-supporting programs of grades 1-8 enrichment courses had 256 students in 32 courses. Participation was an increase of 92 students from last year and an increase of 76 students from the summer of 2006-7. The grades 9-12 remedial courses had 111 students, an increase of 17 students participating in 13 courses. We needed to hire more teachers to teach these students, thus the request was made.

Representative Greenalch made a motion, seconded by Representative Rondinone, to approve the transfer. The vote was unanimous to approve 6-0.

Chair Bruno handed out information that had been presented at two Board of Education meetings concerning budget adjustments. Discussion followed.

Representative Cinque made a motion, seconded by Representative Rondinone, to adjourn.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 pm.

Respectfully submitted:

Maggie Bruno, Chair
