CURRENTLY RECRUITING FOR THE POSITION OF

Lifeguard

Parks and Recreation

Town Pool and Beaches

 

Date of Notice:  April 3, 2017
$10.71-$11.73 per hour

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled

Essential Functions:

Monitor activities in swimming areas to prevent accidents and provide assistance to swimmers.    Caution swimmers of usage areas.  Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning and administers First Aid/ CPR when needed.  Maintain order in swimming areas at all times.  Inspect facilities for any dangers and reports them to the appropriate personnel.  Lifeguards principle duties are to ensure the safety and well-being of the patrons and to observe and enforce all rules and regulations governing the public pools and beaches.   For Beach and Hospice pool hours, applicant must be able to work Memorial Day through Labor Day and attend some in-service training.

 

Minimum Required Qualification:

Certified in First Aid & CPR for the Professional Rescuer, valid and current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.

 

Selection Guidelines:

100% Training and Experience Assessment

The Town of Branford reserves the right to limit the number of qualified candidates who will be considered for the position.

The files of all qualified candidates will be maintained for a minimum of six months from the announcement date, and the qualified candidates will be considered for the same or similar positions which may become available during this timeframe.

All candidates must successfully pass a post-offer medical examination, which includes a substance abuse test given at the Town's expense.

The Town of Branford conducts background investigations for all positions prior to hiring.  Refusal to sign the release form will terminate the candidate from further consideration.
