HONORS & TRIBUTES
Branford High School Athletic Directors, Savas Synodi and Jake Palluzzi, were recognized for achieving 2nd place in the CIAC Michael’s Cup, an award to schools that continually provide exemplary athletic programs. Branford has finished in the top 10 every year we have participated.
PRESENTATION
Lee Panagoulias, Branford High School Principal, and Joel Hinrichs, Social Studies teacher, gave a presentation to the Board on their China visit.
SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT
Dr. Halligan gave her Superintendent’s Report. She discussed the H1N1 letter and brochure distributed to parents/guardians and information available on our website. Detailed cleaning performed in all of the schools. Administrators will discuss absenteeism packets. Reading Consultant at Mary R. Tisko School, Brooke Dalesio, received her National Certification in Literacy. PV Solar System Ribbon Cutting will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 1PM, at BHS Library.
STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES’ REPORT
Jenna Grande and the two new (alternating) Student Representatives, Kyle Nolan and Kaitlin Pellazza, reported student activities for the new school year—Parade of Nations, Honors Breakfast, and the beginning of the football and soccer season.

06 (Krause/Squires) Motion to approve the field trip request of the Walsh Dance Team to attend the National Dance Team Championships in Florida on January 4-8, 2010.

11 Dr. Halligan discussed the Special Education evaluation. SERC (State Education Resource Center) has been selected to evaluate our Special Education Program. IDEA/ARRA funds will be used for this evaluation. Administrators will ask for volunteers to serve on this committee. A written report from SERC is tentatively planned for January, 2010.

TEACHING & LEARNING IN THE 21ST CENTURY
Mr. John Prins, Teaching & Learning Committee Chair, reported that the NEXT MEETING is scheduled for Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at 6:30 P.M., Walsh Intermediate School Faculty Lounge. October 14, 2009 Teaching & Learning Committee meeting has been canceled.
SPECIAL MEETING
The Full Board will meet on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at 6:30 P.M. at Walsh Intermediate School Faculty Lounge, to review School Improvement Plans.
