I. CALL TO ORDER
Meeting was called to order at 6:30 P.M. by Chairman John Prins.
II. DISCUSSION:
A. BHS Field Trip Request—Annual Peace Jam Northeast Youth Conference,
Elms College, Chicopee, MA, April 4-5, 2009
Teaching & Learning Committee will recommend approval to the full Board for the Branford High School field trip request to attend the Annual Peace Jam Northeast Youth Conference at Elms College, Chicopee, MA, on April 4-5, 2009. Peace Jam International youth study Peace Corp winners. Rigoberta Menchu Tum, 2008-09 Nobel Laureate, will be honored. Five Branford High students will attend.
B. Assistant Superintendent’s Report
Dr. Mary Peraro gave an update on all areas of her responsibility, including curriculum and professional development. Topics included review of professional development on February 25, update of Summer Reading Program, curriculum writing update, and Teacher of the Year.
C. 2009/2010 School Calendar
Dr. Mary Peraro presented the proposed school calendar for 2009/2010.
D. Administration of Medication Policy
Consensus to recommend approval of Policy No. 5141.21 Administration of Medication to full Board for first reading.
E. Homework/Make-Up Work Policy
Discussion and review of Policy No. 6154 Homework/Make-Up Work Policy. Consensus to recommend no changes.
F. Textbook/Program Requests—Form
Consensus to recommend approval of form for Textbook/Program Requests to full Board.
III. ADJOURNMENT
Chairman adjourned meeting at 7:30 P.M.
