I. CALL TO ORDER
Meeting was called to order at 6:30 P.M. by Chairman John Prins.
II. PRESENTATION:
A. DRA2—Monica Briggs, Assistant Principal, Mary T. Murphy School, and K-8, Literacy Specialist
Mrs. Briggs presented information on DRA2 (Diagnostic Reading Assessment 2).
III. DISCUSSION:
A. Assistant Superintendent’s Report
Dr. Mary Peraro gave an update on all areas of her responsibility, including curriculum and professional development. Topics included variations and different CMT tests available.
The CMT tests have arrived and will be given in March. She discussed RTI, walk throughs, reading assessment, workshops on how to teach students with autism, anxiety, and emotional disturbances.
B. Social Studies Curriculum--Information
Dr. Mary Peraro and David Gruendel, Walsh Grade 7 Geography Teacher, presented information on the Social Studies Curriculum. Peter Bouley and Sharon Shirley assisted.
C. Walsh Field Trip Request—Heritage Music Festival, NYC
Consensus to recommend approval to the full Board of Walsh field trip request to the Heritage Music Festival in New York City for May 22-24, 2009.
D. Administration of Medication Policy
Consensus to recommend approval of Policy No. 5141.21 Administration of Medication to full Board for first reading.
